Silver Weddings is the wedding photography section of Southdown Studio, owned by freelance photographer Jon Silver. Jon Silver specialises in capturing everything about your wedding day - bride & groom, guests, flowers, cake, location, food, clothes - in beautiful reportage-style photographs. We've won awards for our wedding photography, and had hundreds of delighted customers who sing our praises and we have never disappointed anyone (to our knowledge).

We maintain links with individuals and companies who offer similarly high-quality wedding-related services to complement our own, like beautiful make-up from the highly-skilled make-up artist Sylvi Du Sauzay. These are not paying advertisers, or people who just came along and offered us a reciprocal link - these are people we know personally, and whose professional reputations we hold in high esteem as they do ours. I fell in love with photography when my late mother handed me a camera on a skiing holiday when I was five years old and asked me to take a photo of her. I still have that photo, and it's not bad!

One day the web came along, and in the early days I decided to create a web site for my snaps. I started to get fan mail from around the globe, and I realised I was more than a competent amateur photographer. Some messages were from professionals who were very complimentary about my work. Others were from people wanting to buy my photographs. And so finally I turned pro, with much help and encouragement from my mum (to whom my work is a living tribute) and my friends, and found that my naturalistic style was very much en-vogue.

Always refusing to over-specialise, I maintain that one sort of photography enables me to do another. Photojournalism, fashion, model portfolios, commercial, landscape, food... they're all to be found in abundance at weddings - but there's more. Emotion and beauty are the cornerstones of my work. I love weddings, because I love people. Photography is a lifelong passion for me, and I look forward to photographing you.

I live in Brighton with my two children, my girlfriend, and a Jack Russell. I don't think I look like Alastair McGowan or sound like Alan Rickman.
